BT communicate well to break the record……………………………………

The team from BT have out done themselves by beating the current emergency parcels packed in one day. After I had given them the H&S talk and showed them around, as soon as they knew other teams had been in they were determined to be the team that helped the most people in one day.

Our emergency parcels go out to schools, colleges and the two university in Leicester to student support services who ensure that they get to people who are experiencing food poverty which can prevent them from achieving and reaching their full potential. Our parcels also go to our 7 hubs ensuring that someone who is going hungry can get help 6 days a week.

“we noticed that children were coming to school hungry, they were struggling to concentrate and this was affecting behaviour and their ability to learn. We spoke to the parents and found that they had gone without food for several days to give what little they had to their children. Because we have student support and partner with Leicester South food bank, we were able to immediately give them emergency food. We then supported them with the statutory provision such as education welfare, and helped to stabilize the family and get them back on track.”
