The team are working so hard packing boxes to meet the growing demand of desperate people needing food. However we are running low on certain items.
But thanks to a generous financial donation we set off into the wilderness to hunt down the illusive UHT milk……….sorry getting mixed up with writing a book!
First large store we went to refused to let us bulk buy (will remain anonymous) So not easily deterred, our illustrious team got up at dawn (ok 7.45pm) and queued up at Aldi. With trepidation they queued for 30 minutes in the blistering sun (ok I’ll stop now). People in the queue were all good spirited and appeared positive.

The lovely managers and staff were so helpful and apologetic that they couldn’t let us buy more, but allowed us to get just over £100 worth of essential items. This will keep us going for the next few days, packing another 60 boxes that will be distributed tomorrow and Monday. They said we could go back another day but couldn’t guarantee stock.
Shoppers in store saw we were from food bank and were very supportive actually donating some of their items as we left. Some of the staff couldn’t understand why they had not got a collection basket after the checkouts.
Aldi area managers, if you are reading this please can we put collection baskets in your stores, your customers and staff are asking for this.
Please, please all major large retail store managers, let food banks buy in bulk. We wont leave you short of stock and can give you a list so that you can add it on to your usual re-order system. This will ensure that regular customers will always be your priority.
We are not hording, the stock is going out nearly as fast as we can get it in. We have had to increase our packing sessions from 3 a week to 6 just to cope with demand.
This is £100 worth of food, we can not meet demand if we have to keep buying. Please keep donating. We know its hard at the moment with restrictions, but please without your donations people will go hungry.
Everyone is pulling together and together we can make a better community.
