So yesterday we brought you news of Aldi allowing us to buy multiple items that we are running short of. I also mentioned that it would be great if Aldi and Lidl could put food bank collection baskets in their store. As soon as we had posted, we checked emails and Lidl had sent an email through neighbourly to say they would allow us to buy multiple items and put collection baskets in store. Prayer answered before we prayed it!

We have been to Aldi again this morning to 7am and purchased more stock items that should keep us going for a few more days until we can get in again, but please we need your donations.  https://leicestersouth.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/

We understand it is difficult because you are limited to how many items you can buy and you might be self isolating. Please consider a financial donation and if you want to make sure we stay around please consider a standing order for £5 a month.

While we were at Aldi we managed to speak to the area manager. He was very open to ideas which he will cascade up to head office as all decisions must be taken nationally. Points we discused:

  • Collection baskets in all stores
  • Allowing customers extra items if they are giving to food bank
  • Delivery from their main warehouse direct to our warehouse
  • Corporate Social Responsibility in the form of donations and funds
  • Allowing food banks to buy at trade prices

Again Thank you for all your support
