I dont know what to say in the way of thanks, Wigston Fields News & Deli presented Leicester South Foodbank with another cheque of £342 this week. This money has been raised by customers of Pratik and Bee initiative of pay as you feel. This money will ensure at least 34 families receive an emergency parcel this week. Last year we helped to support 5563 people to put food on their tables and ensure they were not having to not eat, just so they could pay their bills. Our advocacy and advice service supported people to budget and maximise the little Income they had, to balance their expenses. People were helped to re-engage with mental health services and find employment. We negotiated with housing providers and landlords to keep a roof over peoples heads and give them the security of a home.
Since Covid-19 and the lockdown from 23rd March, we have delivered over 900 parcels to our hubs and the schools we support. We have personally delivered with the help of our volunteer drivers and British Gas, to over 100 homes in Leicestershire and Leicester. The vans you see below are out most days, collecting or delivering donations. Hope Church Wigston has allowed us to use the Kings centre to store and pack emergency parcels.
You as a community have come together and shown what it means to be neighbours.
Thank you and let’s keep this community spirit going and use this time to build better stronger relationships and community resilience.
