Today we had a great trip out to Market Harborough
@jubileefoodbankmh and dropped off 197.60kg of food desperately needed by residents in that lovely town. The sun was shining, people were out enjoying the weather and the dedicated volunteers of Jubilee Foodbank were sorting through food and making up emergency food packs ready to distribute to people who are struggling to put food on the table. It is always a privilege to supply other food banks who are making sure that food gets to the people who really need it. No one organisation can do it all and helping each other not only spreads the load but also best practice and great ideas. Thank you Jubilee for the crates of pasta and tinned fish that you gave to us today. By working together, items that some food banks have more off than others can be redistributed to where it is needed and so donations from the public are really being put to best use. I love this networking and communication!
We thought we had worked hard today, so on the way home, we saw that the local McD’s on the A6 only had 4 cars in the queue. However, we did not realise that they did not open until 11 am. (No the cars were not parked up!) Having sworn to not sit in a queue for fast food, we were persuaded by the short line of vehicles to venture in and were rewarded that at 11 am on the dot, a masked man came and removed the bollards (yes I know that should have given me a clue that they were not open!) and we were allowed to speak into the magic post and hot food appeared out of the castles portal……..sorry doing it again….just love storytelling!. We parked up and enjoyed a feast of high carb high salt and sugar rush. However, we were surprised when we had a visitor perch on our mirror…..absolutely no social distancing and to be quite honest rude! The furry fiend (yes I have spelt it correctly!) was rewarded with a piece of lettuce and bun.
Please can I ask you all to keep donating food to us and check our website for the items we urgently need. https://leicestersouth.foodbank.org.uk/give-he…/donate-food/ Please every time you go shopping, buy one or two extra items from our list and place in the collection baskets the other side of the tills. We are not through this crisis yet and more people are turning to us for help. You can really support your community by supporting us. Thank you!
