Leicester South Foodbank Warm Space Sessions

20th March 2023

Recognising that local people may need additional support, Leicester South foodbank decided to launch its Warm Space Sessions at the end of last year.

Hosted at the Kings Centre in Wigston every Friday at 1pm, the session provides a warm and friendly environment for local people to meet and enjoy a delicious hot meal, which is kindly donated by our fantastic supporters at Next.

We encourage any of the local community to join us, you don’t need to book just turn up. After the meal for those wanting to stay, we play games and chat, making great friendships along the way.

Staff and volunteers are available to talk to you about additional support like accessing the foodbank and community fridges budgeting and signposting to other partners who can provide support and advice.

Phil who attends the session said ‘I lost my wife 18 months ago and I have been feeling a little bit lost. Attending the warm space session has provided help, support and friendship’

Bruce Harrison Operational Manager said ‘This is a safe warm welcoming space for all, we passionately believe that if we bring our community together, we can help and support one another. We recognise that many people have experienced loss over the last couple of years and that we hope that the friendly environment encourages friendships and gives us all the chance to deal with loneliness’
